My friend had one and regrets it as well. There are so many other, and better ways to treat it. I would not get surgery unless it was a last result. Hemorrhoids treatment is not as bleak as it might seam. It is just that so many people don't talk about hemorrhoids. I think getting educated about the options is the best way to find the right hemorrhoids treatment. This is a great site to do that.
