Are Bleeding Hemorrhoids Dangerous?

Most people get very agitated and frightened seeing bleeding hemorrhoids in the rectum. Especially if it's their first time.

I cannot blame them, as I was also frightened out of my wits the first time I discovered my hemorrhoid bleeding.

Now Don't get me wrong its not a laughing matter, and you should not take it lightly. But you can relax a little as it's not as serious as one thinks.

If the cause is from hemorrhoids and I repeat only if the cause is a direct result of hemorrhoids.

This is where the line is very fine. So many times hemorrhoids are confused with other more serious ailments. It is therefore imperative that you get checked by a medical practitioner as soon as possible to ascertain that your rectal bleeding is definitely caused by hemorrhoids.

If your blood is directly in the pan or in the stools and is bright red. You probably have got internal hemorrhoids bleeding.

If your blood is bright red and is mainly on the toilet paper. You can feel an obstruction on your anus. You probably have got external hemorrhoids bleeding.

The important thing is that the blood must be bright red. This bright red blood most of the time is a sign of hemorrhoids.

N.B. Not all of the time

Bleeding hemorrhoids are not dangerous. This is how they behave normally. They will swell up a pocket of blood and then when you exert pressure on them .

Usually caused from passing a bowel movement.

You will break this pocket and the blood will pour out. This can happen outside the anus with external hemorrhoids or inside the anus with internal hemorrhoids.

If left unattended they can cause more discomfort and could become infected. So it is best to treat the hemorrhoids immediately.

I will however be repetitive and say one more time that you should get these hemorrhoids checked by a professional and make sure that you are definitely bleeding from hemorrhoids.

More importantly if you suspect to be suffering from internal hemorrhoids.

In the meantime you can start your treatments while you are waiting for your appointment with the doctor.
